Refinishing:

Travertine, Marble, and Limestone are a very popular choice for flooring and more. However, did you

know that it also very sensitive to wear, acidic solutions, and scratching? The good news is, it is also able

to be fixed and stay looking  brand new with refinishing, and proper maintenance.

One of the most common issues is etching. This family of stone is highly reactive to acids, such as lemon

juice or vinegar.  Even the slightest amount of time in contact with the stone can etch it.  We have received

many calls to "clean the stains" off of a marble vanity or similar, and have to break the news to them that it

is actually chemically burned into the stone or "etched".

Scratches on travertine, marble, and limestone is also very common, especially on floors. It is best to use

door mats to collect dirt and soft padding under your furniture so it does not scratch your floors.

To fix these issues, the Refinishing service is needed. Cleanlinez uses

diamond abrasives, along with professional equipment and special

compounds to remove the damage and refinish up to the desired shine

( honed, satin, gloss, or high gloss ). We then finish with a final polish and seal.

Cleaning & Polishing:

After your floors are back to new, how do you maintain them? We recommend using a rinse less neutral cleaner specially formulated for travertine, marble, and limestone, along with a microfiber mop head. Make sure to carefully vacuum or dust mop the floors first so you don't spread excess dirt around and rinse the mop head out well during cleanings.

After a while, you may notice wear patterns or dull areas on the surface. This is were our Polishing service will be needed. We will again use special compounds, machines, and diamond abrasives to bring the shine back. However, this does not take nearly the time as a full refinish or restoration and can usually be done in one day or less depending on the size of area. The time between polishing will depend on a number of things including amount of traffic, wear and tear (do you have dogs or kids?), location of stone (showers need it most often), care of the stone, and the finish and or type of your stone. For instance, we have repeat client that after doing a full refinish with lippage removal on 18x18 travertine, we re-polish about every 2 - 3 years.

All tile, stone, and grout will also will need a deep clean occasionally using our Hydro Extraction System. Think indoor pressure washing with super hot  water and a high powered vacuum to suck up all the dirt and grime embedded in the surface at the same time! How often again depends on wear and tear, location, surface material, and care history.

Lippage Removal, Repair, Full Restoration:

Are your floors uneven and / or not installed well? We can fix that too! Lippage removal is when we smooth out these "lips" or edges on your floor using a wet grinding method and a more aggressive system of equipment, metals, and diamond abrasives. Once done we then fill holes, refinish up to desired shine, polish and seal.

We also can fill in cracks, repair or replace loose tiles, and do chip repair. If you think your travertine, marble, or limestone is beyond repair, call us first to evaluate. Most often it can be completely restored and the cost (not to mention the time and mess) is much less than a replacement.
